Vilnius, Lithuania - The excitement in Lithuania, but also in the Eurovision fan community across Europe is getting quite intense. There’s only one show left, where the audience and jury will decide on representative for this year’s Eurovision Song Contest. Because tonight it was all about the Lithuanian song for Copenhagen.
The eleventh episode of the LRT’s Eurovision marathon that we have been following for almost three months now, was having a role of the semi-final. However, this time it was not about performers. Mia, Vilija and Vaidas are still among the Lithuanian hopefuls, as a decision about the representative for the 2014 Eurovision Song Contest is going to be made next Saturday.
Tonight, after enjoying all the performances and three competing songs, Lithuanian and international jury, as well as TV viewers, shared their votes and decided on the song that Lithuania will compete with in Denmark in May. After all the votes have been merged, the title of the song for this year's Eurovision was announced:
WINNING SONG: Attention

Like in previous editions of "Eurovizijos" dainų konkurso nacionalinė atranka, the eleventh show was taped few days earlier (18th of February), but it was broadcasted tonight, one day later as planned. "Due to sudden changes to the schedule, LRT has decided to postpone the broadcast from Saturday to Sunday at 20:00 CET", according to the explanation published on the LRT's official website, late last night.

This time it was "all about the song"

Nevertheless, in the previous ten shows, only the performances of contestants were evaluated during the broadcast, not the songs. Still, there was a public vote through LRT’s web-platform, where TV viewers and/or listeners could vote for their favourite tracks parallely, regardless to who is performing them in the show. But this time it was completely different. Not only that, the audience and jury did not share their opinion and votes about artists, tonight no one among the finalists was eliminated neither - only songs!

During the semi-final Mia, Vilija Matačiūnaitė and Vaidas Baumila had to perform all three competing songs in their own versions: Attention, Take A Look At Me Know, It's All About The Boy (chosen through LRT's web-platform earlier this week, based on votes of the audience and jury).
Among the members of LRT’s expert jury in tonight’s show were: Vytenis Pauliukaitis, Deividas Zvonkus, Ramūnas Zilnys and Edmundas Seilius. The international one was consisted of: Brandon Stone (Germany), Liselott Bjork (Sweden) and Valerij Prosirov (Russia).
Here you can see how the jury voted and how the audience.
The song which recieved the greatest number of votes tonight from the jury and TV viewers is Attention. This means, who ever wins in the final next Saturday, the song that will be performed in Copenhagen is already chosen! According to the votes from tonight's show, Vilija's performance of Attention got the biggest support, but at the moment, she is still just one of three Lithuanian hopefuls.
If you missed tonight's or previous shows, you can still watch them here. However, if you just want to check some of the performances, visit LRT's YouTube channel.
Lietuvos nacionalinis radijas ir televizija (LRT) has a bit different approach for the national selection ("Eurovizijos" dainų konkurso nacionalinė atranka) this year:
  • 12 TV shows are being produced and broadcast in the primetime (20:00 CET) every Saturday!
  • 20 artists were competing for the role of being the Lithuanian representative at Eurovision Song Contest in Copenhagen at the beginning – there are only three left!
  • 16 competing songs (also from international authors).
  • The final decision about the artist and a song for Copenhagen, will be made in the show scheduled for the 1st of March.
  • Lithuania will compete in the first half of the second Semi-final of Eurovision Song Contest (8 of May).
  • The next episode of LRT"s Eurovision marathon is just in a week, on Saturday (1st of March) at 20:00 CET!
