Belarus: TEO goes traditional
Minsk, Belarus - The Belarusian representative in the 2014 Song Contest, TEO, recorded a new version of his entry Cheesecake. He presented it in the local TV programme Naperad U Minulae (Forward To The Past). The main attraction of TEO’s new version was a group of singing grandmothers!
TEO is not only popular as a singer, he is also famous as a host of the Belarusian TV show Naperad U Minulae that means Forward To The Past. The aim of this programme is to find traditional singers from the remote areas of Belarus and revamp their performances into modern versions sung by contemporary vocalists.
But this time, it was TEO's song Cheesecake that got the retro treatment from traditional group Pavalyaki. The amateur singing grandmothers from village of Opchin in the Lyubansk area took part in the recordings of TEO’s new version. Listen what came out of it on the official site of BTRC. Here you also can find his original winning song.
