Dutch entrant to be revealed on 25th of November
Hilversum, the Netherlands -
Broadcaster TROS has today announced that the Dutch entry for the 2014 Eurovision Song Contest will be revealed on Monday the 25th of November. Now the speculation begins!
This year in Malmö, the Netherlands achieved something they have not managed since 2004 - to qualify for the Grand Final. This was thanks to Anouk, whose soulful ballad Birds helped her - not only into the Grand Final - but also to a very respectable 9th place with 114 points.
Many argue that this has helped to breathe new life into the Netherlands' passion for Europe's favourite TV show; something that was said to have dissipated after many years of poor results.
Now, broadcaster TROS are looking for their next big thing and with today's announcement that the Dutch entry will be revealed on the 25th of November, speculation is rife:
According to some sources, award winning Ilse DeLange, a revered Dutch country singer, has been lined up by TROS to represent the Netherlands in Copenhagen in May. She has many hits to her name including the singles So Incredible and Miracle, which reached number one in the Dutch Top 100 and Top 40 charts respectively. In a couple of weeks we will see if this rumour is true.
Stay tuned to Eurovision.tv to find out who the Dutch representative will be.
The 2014 Eurovision Song Contest will take place on the 6th, 8th and 10th of May at B&W Hallerne on Refshaleøen in Copenhagen, Denmark.
