Iceland: And the winner is Pollapönk!!
Pollapönk, tonight's winners in Iceland.
Reykjavik, Iceland - First there were 297 submitted songs, then 10 semi-final entries shortened to 6 finalists and to 2 super-finalists. But only one becomes Iceland's entry at the 2014 Eurovision Song Contest. That honour fell to Pollapönk who will travel to Copenhagen to perform Enga fordóma.
Iceland held two semi-finals leading up to tonight's final show in which the winner will represent the island at the 2014 Eurovision Song Contest. Televoting picked two songs in each semi-final and an expert jury selected two wildcards. That means that there were six participants in the final Söngvakeppnin 2014 show from the Háskólabíó in Reykjavik.

The participants

The show hosts were Ragnhildur Steinunn Jónsdóttir & Guðrún Dís and this was the running order in tonight's final (winner in bold):
  1. F.U.N.K. - Þangað til ég dey (Franz Ploder Ottósson, Pétur Finnbogason and Lárus Örn Arnarsson)
  2. Ásdís María Viðarsdóttir - Amor (Haukur Johnson)
  3. Sigga Eyrún - Lífið kviknar á ný (Karl Olgeirsson & Sigga Eyrún)
  4. Gissur Páll Gissurarson - Von (Jóhann Helgason)
  5. Gréta Mjöll Samúelsdóttir - Eftir eitt lag (Ásta Björg Björgvinsdóttir / Bergrún Íris Sævarsdóttir)
  6. Pollapönk - Enga fordóma (Heiðar Örn Kristjánsson and Haraldur F. Gíslason)
The members of F.U.N.K. are Franz Ploder Ottósson, Pétur Finnbogason, Hörður Bjarkason, Egill Ploder Ottósson and Valbjörn Snær Lillendahl while Pollapönk are Heiðar Örn Kristjánsson, Haraldur Freyr Gíslason, Guðni Finnsson and Arnar Þór Gíslason.

The results

There was a first round of voting where a combination of expert-jury voting and televoting (50/50) determined the top two: Pollapönk and Sigga Eyrún. These top two songs qualified for the second round of voting where televoting only determined the winner.
In the second round the two songs were performed in the language they wish to use if they make it to Copenhagen in May. Sigga performed in English while Pollapönk reprised Enga fordóma in Icelandic and English.
After the televoting results were calculated, last year's winning composers of Ég Á Lif came on stage to announce the winner: the band Pollapönk with the song Enga fordóma will represent Iceland.
